Questions About A Verse? Empty Re: Questions About A Verse?

Post by Amy I. Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:00 am

I'm quoting from Yahoo! Answers...

"The Talmud in the same Tractate quotes a Beraita (a Halachic teaching from the time of the Mishna) which says:

"Why did they say that bee-honey is permitted? Because even though they bring it into their bodies, it is not a *product* of their bodies [it is stored there but not produced there]."

All the Sages of the Mishna agree with this ruling. One of them, Rabbi Yaakov, disagrees with the *reasoning*. He claims that bee-honey is Kosher based on his interpretation of Vayikra 11:21. According to him, the verse prohibits one to eat a flying insect, but *not* that which is *excreted* from it.

Maimonides codifies bee-honey as being Kosher, as does the Shulchan Aruch."

Questions About A Verse? Empty Re: Questions About A Verse?

Post by Foster G Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:42 pm

ok... well I found a more interesting verse.lol

so G-d wants this prophet to tell the evil king of israel something, and this is what happens

35 Now a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbor by the word of the LORD, “Strike me, please.” And the man refused to strike him. 36 Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, surely, as soon as you depart from me, a lion shall kill you.” And as soon as he left him, a lion found him and killed him.
37 And he found another man, and said, “Strike me, please.” So the man struck him, inflicting a wound. 38 Then the prophet departed and waited for the king by the road, and disguised himself with a bandage over his eyes.

so the prophet wanted someone to hurt him(he needed it for disguise) but when the guy refused, G-d killed him... It seems really weird

Well, I would think, that because the man did not obey the command of the Lord he died. The other man obeyed, and he lived.
Why is that weird? (I think I know why you think it weird, but I thought I's ask anyway)

But, the man had a choice, he could obey and or he could not, and he chose not to.
You might want to ask your Dad, but everyone has a certain amount of choice
involving the desicisions in their life.
Yes everything is pre-ordained, and G-d knows what you will do, but ultimately what you do happens because you chose to do it. (yes G-d can use people to
change your mind, or He can change your heart if he doesn't want you to do something)
And its quite possible that man who died didn't believe in G-d, which is why he refused and paid the price for his actions.
Did that make sense?
I am not sure if I said it right, and I could be wrong, which is why it is good to ask your parents if you doubt someones words on a topic.

well, I understand the man didn't do G-d's will, but it was interesting that it was G-d's will to hurt the other man of G-d.
