Re: Poetry Contest
The government's good, ordained by God,
put in place by His mighty hand.
We respect the government, it should be,
But we see some things in this great land,
THAT
Should not be upheld.
Once the government was worthy,
Blessed by God, with truth our stand.
Our Founders made us noble,
We were known as the freedom land.
NOW
We are dictated by people with unworthy standards.
See, the law is for the lawless,
Not for governmental power!
Sometimes the nation’s interference,
Gives cause to make you wonder,
IF
The government needs the law!
Although we have the constitution,
Too many would like to see,
the opposite of what our founders,
had wanted us to be...
WHICH
I think was a greater America!
So now we come to the main part,
The scheme I wish to expose.
Here is the government's big plan,
that me, myself, and I oppose!
THE
Great, big, glorious...
CRC
Many of you have heard of this,
but do you know what it's about?
The big, the bad, and the ugly,
are adjectives beyond a doubt.
UNLESS
You're the government, of course!
Paragraph 9 of the preamble,
states that every child,
Needs safeguards proceeding birth,
but we are very riled,
BECAUSE
We detect a flaw!
According to article 6,
A child has the right to life.
But, frankly, dear CRC,
Your words are full of strife!
BECAUSE
You also support abortion!
I see that now we have the right,
to seek information we covet.
But what if we desire,
to learn who our taxes benefit!
OR
Who they do not benefit!
The government gives us information,
and caters to our every whim.
But we look at a spoiled child and frown,
and wonder what his parents taught him.
PERHAPS
The government taught him!
’Cause all children need discipline,
to help them do what's right.
If we don't train them now,
jail could be their plight!
SO
Spanking isn't so bad!
Our mommies love us. Our daddies protect us.
They help us walk in the light.
The government is not going to pat us on the back,
Hug us, and tell us it's alright.
BUT
Even if they did, we wouldn't believe them.
The government would like to come,
Take over your kitchen table.
The CRC would help this along,
Help make kids’ lives unstable.
IT'S
Control over parental rights!
We believe that government's good,
but it's getting out of hand!
We want our leaders to be fair and just,
leading the freedom land!
ISN'T
That what it was founded to be?
