Daddy, you are my Hero
This isn't a song about God, per se, but a song I wrote to my dad and all the other dedicated Christian fathers out there who make a difference in their children's lives! I haven't played it for my dad yet, I'm thinking of a good time to do that...
------------------------------------
You read to me at night
Played ball out in the yard
Listened to my endless stories
Let me pretend to drive the car
You loved our pets and you cracked jokes
It was the little things that let me know
You love me
I could sleep peacefully at night
And wake up safe and happy
Because I knew my daddy was at home
I had no reason to worry
(Pre-chorus) And with innocent, longing eyes
And feeble, trusting steps
I watched your every move
And tried to follow right behind
(Chorus) Daddy, you are my hero
An angel sent to earth
Though you may not think so now,
Your reward is waiting in paradise
Daddy, you are my hero
The best man in my eyes
Tend the soil, watch me grow
For a season, then let me go
But the thing I want to let you know is
You are my hero
You weren't trying to be noticed
But I saw how hard you worked
You were just doing what was right
But from your example I learned
Long, hard days that never ended
Daily struggles to make the right choices
Maybe you think it is all in vain
But I observed and patterned my steps after yours
I know I don't tell you enough
Maybe I just don't know the words
But know that it's here inside of me
As I watch and take mental notes
On how to live a selfless life
(Pre-chorus, Chorus)
You thought your faith was yours alone
But I wanted the kind of faith you had
You stepped up to the plate
Because it was the right thing to do...but I watched you
I want to be just like my daddy
With a strong and loving heart
Who follows after Jesus
With faith that makes me marvel
Lord, give me faith just like my daddy's
And the wisdom I see in him
The way he walks and talks with You
I can tell that he is Your friend
(Pre-chorus, Chorus)
(Ending) You don't wear a cape and you can't fly
Your not out saving helpless victims day and night
But you love my mama and you look out for me
You don't have to be Superman
'Cause you save the day for me
----------------------------------
Yeah, long, I know...lol

I love it!! Thanks for sharing.
Have you heard the one my Phillips, Craig and Dean? Or Rodney Atkins?
They have similar songs, yet different, I really enjoyed them, I love these sort of songs.
And its not too long.
