The Greater One

Post by Clareesa J. on Thu Jul 10, 2008 5:48 am

This is a poem I wrote about a year (maybe two) ago. I don't usually like to write poems, but I thought of this one in my head and decided to write it out. Tell me what you thnk. Very Happy

Like a whisper through the wind,
Like a piercing through the night,
A sound came from the darkness,
To anyone who heard, it gave fright.

It slunk along the shadows,
It went through open windows,
Attacking its unaware victim,
Their screams heard across the town.

An open window,
Inside a young boy,
Sleeping soundly,
His heart filled with joy.

Knowing in his heart,
A joy greater than darkness,
A guardian to protect him,
To keep him from all evil.

From the open window came the darkness,
It’s evil laugh echoing through the air,
It saw the sleeping boy,
And harm him he not dare.

For even the darkness knew,
There was a greater power,
One that could destroy even him,
Even that very hour.

The darkness slunk away,
Fearing the greater one,
The one who protects,
The one who is the only one.

Now all who trust in the One,
Fear the darkness no more,
For the greater One,
Is in their hearts forever more.

For God is the One,
the only One,
who came from heaven to earth,
to die for all we have done.

Because he loves you
and always will.
